As a teacher becoming a more effective communicator includes being more culturally sensitive.   We need to look beyond the surface and try to understand actions from others perspective.  Not placing judgment on families actions until we can understand why they are acting a particular way.  This weeks lessons have taught me that I need to: Understand cultural differences; by not only seeing others as cultural beings, but looking at myself as a cultural being as well.  Seeing how my actions as a teacher influence how the children behave and react. Eliminate assumptions;  by eliminating assumptions that we create and gaining knowledge about  others cultures we can gain perspective...

While doing this assignment I was watching Criminal Mind s,  In this episode  Hotchner ( the  director) and Morgan(the agent)  were in a conversation.  Without the volume on they  seemed very  aggressive, and at point disinterested in each other. Their body language  seemed to be tense.  The 2  men seemed to not be getting along     Once I rewatched this  scene,  I found they were not  aggressive, Morgan was upset with a situation that had  happened and Hotchner was trying to  understand and support Morgan while maintaining an  appropriate and professional demeanor.  I have learned that communicating on a  professional level with colleagues  we must maintain a   certain demeanor as well as use  effective skills, such as   Listening.  respect, open mindedness, empathy.  I also learned  body language a...

The best Communicator I know to date is The Principle of my sons high school.  He is a an excellent speaker on a group and personal level.  He is always has a wealth of information when addressing people.  While speaking he is kind compassionate but also assertive in what he says.  He is open minded and willing to listen to other suggestions.  He will address any issues brought to his attention and will take time to review and research the information given to him to make good decisions.  He is verse in 7 languages and is diverse in his thinking. I would like to become a compassionate towards others, While addressing groups I would like to ensure I am fully knowledgeable and make sure I communicate with accuracy while  being  a better listener
